Community Update: Proactive Policing Leads to Drug Seizure and Arrest in Halifax Town Centre

As part of our ongoing commitment to tackling crime and anti-social behaviour in Halifax town centre, officers on proactive patrol recently observed a male acting suspiciously in an area known for drug-related activity.

Based on the circumstances and the officer's observations, grounds were established to conduct a search under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act. During the search, officers located quantities of class C drugs, along with a number of bottles of fragrance believed to be linked to theft from shop.

The male was subsequently arrested for the relevant offences and taken into custody while enquiries continued.

Following the arrest, officers carried out a search of the suspect's home address. During that search, several hundred loose tablets and pills of various shapes, sizes, and colours were discovered. These are currently suspected to be Class C controlled drugs and have been seized for forensic examination to establish exactly what substances they contain.

The suspect has since been released under investigation while officers await the results of the forensic analysis and continue their enquiries.

This incident highlights the value of proactive patrols in Halifax town centre and the work being carried out daily to identify those involved in criminal activity. By targeting known hotspots and acting on suspicious behaviour, officers continue to disrupt drug-related offending and help keep our town centre safe for residents, businesses and visitors.
